The antique prints section includes several engraved works by Albrecht Dürer; the woodcut Maria regina degli angeli (lot 75), Il grande cannone (lot 74), the Incontro di Gioacchino e Anna alla porta aurea (lot 72) and the Presentazione della Vergine al tempio (lot 73). This catalogue offers also a rare etching attributed to Monogrammista AF (lot 126) showing a Genietto alato a cavallo. Amongst the section, we would like to highlight a small section of album by Francesco Barbazza and Giuseppe Vasi (lot 13), Abraham De Bruyn and Jean-Jacques Boissard (lot 50), the engraved Dei veri ritratti degl’habiti di tutte le parti del mondo (lot 104) by Bartolomeo Grassi and the rare first edition of Diversarum Nationum Habitus by Pietro Bertelli (lot 20). Other artists are: Marcantonio Raimondi, Marco Dente da Ravenna, George Reverdy, Giorgio Ghisi, Diana Scultori, Nicoletto da Modena, Ugo da Carpi and a beautiful collection of Francisco Goya’s engravings: some etchings from Los Caprichos, a plate from Los Proverbios and two single sheets (lots 88-103). In this catalogue we also offers works by Remondini: Discritione del paese di chucagna (lot 176) and La grande locura de los hombres o el mondo al revés (lot 179) and the beautiful series of Cardinal sins by Albrecht Schmidt (lot 190). The section ends with some original Japonais prints, including the Ôtomo no Yakamochi by Katsushika Hokusai (lot 195). Amongst the drawings a rare preparatory work for the Gerusalemme liberata by Andrea Boscoli (lot 239), two architectural drawings by Giovan Battista Foggini, one of them for the chapel of San Pietro in San Ferdinando dei Trinitari a Livorno (lots 243-244), and a study for San Gerolamo in meditazione by circle of Guercino (lot 208). The catalogue also offers a small paintings section: San Francesco di Paola by Giuseppe Maria Crespi (lot 263), the San Gerolamo by Herri Met de Bles (lot 264), a wood table showing a dance of death for the pestilence of 1653 in Alghero (lot 260) and a small Architettura fantastica con scena di martirio by Monsù Desiderio (lot 265).

In our next catalogue, you will find also a small but interesting section of antique maps from XVI to XIX century. The top lots are some big nautical maps, including the Carte du Golphe du Mexique et des Isles Antilles (1788) by Philippe Bauche (lot 277), some sheets by Giovanni Maria Cassini from the Nuovo atlante geografico universale (lots 279-282), a couple of San Pietroburgo views by Charles de Lespinasse and Pierre Antoine Tardieu (lot 293) and some antique globes. The most important piece of this section is the Globo celeste by Petrus Plancius (lot 290).



Annigoni collection ~ lots 299-317   

A rich collection of artworks by Pietro Annigoni opens the second session of our auction. Amongst the drawings, prints and autographs you can also find a huge collection of letters enriched with original drawings by the author, over than 100 postcards sent to his wife, Anna Maggini, and their private corrispondence (lot 299).

Modern prints and vintage posters  ~ lots 318-647

There are more than 250 prints in our modern prints section: rare works of Luigi Bartolini, Giovanni Barbisan, Lino Bianchi Barriviera, Giuseppe Biasi, Cino Bozzetti, Francesco Chiappelli and others. We highlight you an etching by Giorgio Morandi, Natura morta di vasi, bottiglie su un tavolo, 1929 (lot 525), a collection of 45 hand coloured etchings by Bartolomeo Pinelli in a rare, avant le lettre first edition with handwritten titles (lot 539). The section also includes works by Antonio Fontanesi and Llewelyn Lloyd, some engraved works by Alberto Helios Gagliardo, two litographs by Renato Guttuso, artworks by Mino Maccari, Adolfo Magrini, Marino Marini, Luigi Russolo, Luigi Servolini, Gino Severini and Giuseppe Viviani. Our next catalogue is characterized by a strong presence of Symbolism, Expressionism and New Objectivity. It includes several etching by Max Klinger, including the engraved book Amore e Psiche (lots 463-481), and artworks by Rudolf Jettmar, Alois Kolb, Otto Greiner, Bruno Héroux, Joseph Uhl, Sigmund Lipinsky, Käthe Kollwitz, Erich Heckel, Karl Hubbuch, Michel Fingesten and Conrad Felixmüller. Amongst the international artists, the portfolio Sueño y mentira de Franco (1937) by Pablo Picasso (lot 537), La bataille des éperons d'or (1895) by James Ensor (lot 415), three plates by Magdalena Abakanowicz from the Katharsis series (1985, lot 320), some artworks by Man Ray and Joe Tilson and two original serigraphs by Andy Warhol from the series Marilyn Monroe (Marilyn) (lots 582-583). We would like to recommend you the remarkable selection of vintage posters: among the artworks, the top lots are the beautiful lithograph Primavera by Achille Luciano Mauzan (lot 633), 1923 Campari Cordial Liquor (lot 637) by Marcello Nizzoli, 1925 Anisetta Evangelisti liquore da dessert by Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia (lot 594). In addition you will find multiple editions of the well-known Campari logo by Leonetto Cappiello (original edition, two sheets,€ 3000) and the lithographs Vermouth Victor, Contratto, Pneu Velo Baudou La Sirène (lots 601-608). Other works are by Marcello Dudovich, Gino Boccasile, Mario Gros, Plinio Codognato, Adolf Hohenstein, René Gruau, Bernard Villemot and others. This section includes also some original drawings and a preparatory study by Achille Mauzan for the Amadriade poster (lot 632).

 

Modern Drawings, paintings and sculptures  ~ lots 648-926

Amongst the modern drawings, we would like to suggest you some artworks by Otto DixRitratto di ragazzo di profilo, 1926 (lot 706), George GroszPassanti (lot 725) and Nudo femminile (lot 726), Lino Bianchi Barriviera, Odoardo Borrani and Ezio Castellucci. The section includes a mixed technique by Marchello Dudovich showing Sophia Loren in rosso (lot 708) and several sketches by the same artist, 8 drawings by the well-known cartoonist Benito Jacovitti (lot 735) and a portfolio by Alfredo Ravasco containing some preparatory drawings for necklaces and tiaras (lot 778). This catalogue include also a modern paintings section with a large number of Macchiaioli and Postmacchiaioli artworks, including two original paintings by Giovanni Fattori, a contemporary copy of a famous painting by Arnold Böcklin, L'isola dei morti, painted by Hans Sandreuter e Albert Welti (lot 912) and a preparatory study for the painting Sic Transit by Adolf Hirémy-Hirschl (lot 874). Other paintings included in this section are by Guglielmo Ciardi, Luigi Gioli, Renato Natali, Vittorio Nomellini, Arturo Rietti and Raffaello Sorbi.
