How to buy
Auctions provide buyers the opportunity to make secure investments with a decisive increase in capital.

In order to offer secure and transparent buying with low commissions, Gonnelli Casa d’Aste each year will have at least two auctions that will present incunabula, manuscripts, first editions of humanistic works, as well as original editions from the 16th to the 20th century.
Collectors of graphic works of art can examine a vast range of the finest works from Old Masters to emerging contemporary artists. All objects are presented to the public for a full week before auction, and they will be reproduced in our catalogue with several high quality images.

Gonnelli Casa d’Aste
organizes expositions in a way that gives sellers the opportunity to display their items.  Also, those interested in purchasing will be able to evaluate all items the week before the auction.  Our expert staff will be happy to assist you in valuing items of interest.

Terms of participation
Buying in salesroom: Definitely the most interesting way of buying! After registering, buyers will receive a registration number, which is needed in order to bid in our auction.

Phone bids: As if you were in the salesroom!
If you would like to participate in the auction via telephone it is necessary to complete the application form Telephone bid in which, you should indicate the object of interest. You can also request the telephone participation directly from the Online Catalog, simply log in to MyGonnelli and select, in the lot page, the button: Offer by phone. Shortly before the start of the auction, a member of our staff will call you. We recommend that in addition to a telephone bid, you should submit a written offer to ensure your bid for the desired item e.g. problems with line connection.

Live Auction : our auctions are streamed in real time on LiveAuctioneers. We would like to offer you the opportunity to follow the auction as if you were in the saleroom: just register yourself on LiveAuctioneers and you will be able to watch and hear the auctioneer and to place your bids.

Absentee Bids : download and complete the form Absentee Bid Form with lot number/s and the maximum bid you would like to submit (buyer's premium excepted). The auctioneer will manage your bids. Absentee Bid Forms should be sent to our offices within 24 hours before the beginning of the auction.

Web Bids : a simple way to place absentee bids is to register yourself to MyGonnelli in our website, browse the online catalogue and submit bids directly from the lot page. This solution offers you the possibility to get your bid history and to provide us with your data only once.


All purchased lots are subject to a commission of 25% up to 100.000 € and 22% from 100.000 € and over and include rights to auction and VAT.

Selling after the auction

After the auction results are published, unsold items can be purchased on-line for an entire month after auction closing.
No bids below the reserve limits will be accepted.


Payment must be made in Euros and the following forms of payment are accepted:

  • cash, for values that do not exceed 2000 €;
  • Credit card;
  • non-transferable bank drafts made payable to Libreria Antiquaria Gonnelli srl;
  • by bank transfer to: Libreria Antiquaria Gonnelli srl

When paying by check or bank transfer, payment to be made subject to the crediting success.


After the auction we will send you a pro-forma invoice including hammer price, commission and shipping cost. Shipping costs includes packaging, transport and insurance, offered by Gonnelli Casa d’Aste for an amount up to 10.000 euro.

In case of your purchases exceed the sum of 10.000 €, Gonnelli Casa d’Aste’s staff will be glad to help you to arrange a shipment with specialized international courier.

We would like to remind you that an export licence is required by Italian regulation to ship out of Italy goods older than 70 years. The request for the export licence on your behalf is a free service that our auction house offers to its Foreign Customers; the Export Office of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage will take at least 40 days to release the necessary licences;  while the export documents are being processed no additional storage fee will be charged on you.
